The Band

StarWound is an Anglophone five-year-old band, based in Athens. The music produced can hardly be positioned in a specific music genre, since the different music origins of all members have created the suitable conditions for experimentation. The musical outcome involves elements of cabaret, jazz and rock music, and the English - lyric context is a philosophical and social reflection on the contemporary human condition.

By being music-wise active throughout the Greek crisis, StarWound have composed ten music pieces, which consists their debut album titled “Miles to Walk” (September 2015). The album was recorded at Lizard Sound Studio under the production of Dimitris Karpouzas and the master was accomplished by David Glasser (main master-engineer of Lou Reed among others) at Airshow Mastering in Colorado, USA.

StarWound became the first Greek band who created an album based on their experience of the Financial and Social Crisis in Greece.

Their record had a positive impact, and received favorable comments by well-established professionals of the music industry. It was published and widespread into different on-line sites. Our song “Buy Me” reached the hotlist of Radio Pepper 96,6 (one of the most popular radio stations in Greece). It was also included in their Playlist of the month, for the month of January. Many songs of the album “Miles to Walk” were also featured on equally well-known radio stations such as ΣτοΚόκκινο radio station, Athina 984 and Kosmos (National radio station).

Nikos Voulgaris filmed and edited the band’s first video clip “The Day of Raymond Ray”:, which was the reason for the band to win the "YourBand" contest at ERT (the National Greek Radio and TV Company).

Two months after performing at ERT, they participated in the most famous Greek Festival, the "38th River Party at Nestorio", being one of the two Anglophone bands of the festival.

StarWound’s first European tour has taken place in spring 2017 (Luxembourg, Rotterdam, Leuven, Brussels, Liege and Antwerp), where they have performed in historical venues like Sounds Jazz Club, Jazzcafe Dizzy and Blues-Sphere. They have already booked concerts in UK (London) and Switzerland (Zurich, Bern, Basel) for the coming months.
